Who is Timshel for?

Kathie works with adults and older adults seeking psychiatric care, including mothers navigating pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, and other life changes. She offers virtual care in Ohio and Kentucky. The introduction can help clarify whether your needs fit the practice.

What happens during the free 15-minute conversation?

You meet Kathie, briefly explain what you are looking for, and ask about her approach, services, fees, availability, and next steps. It is an introductory conversation, not an assessment, therapy session, or prescribing appointment.

Do I have to book a paid visit afterward?

No. The introduction is an opportunity to consider the fit. You can decide whether you want to move forward after your questions have been answered.

How do I request the free conversation?

Use the free conversation page to open Kathie’s Headway profile and send a request for the complimentary 15-minute consultation. Kathie arranges a time with you. Opening the profile or sending a message does not itself confirm an appointment.

Do I need to know my diagnosis before reaching out?

No. You can describe what is happening and what you want help understanding. Diagnosis and treatment recommendations, when appropriate, belong in a clinical assessment.

Will I have to take medication?

Medication is one possible part of care. You can bring reservations, preferences, or questions. Appropriate recommendations depend on the assessment, and should include discussion of the reasoning, alternatives, and questions you have.

Does Kathie provide therapy or medication management?

Kathie offers medication management and individual therapy. Ask which service is appropriate for your situation, how it is scheduled, and what the fee includes. Do not assume a standard follow-up includes a separate full-length therapy session.

What does “integrative psychiatry” mean at Timshel?

It means considering psychiatric concerns alongside physical health, sleep, daily routines, and life circumstances. Care may include medication, therapy, and practical guidance according to the assessment. It is not a promise that lifestyle changes will replace other treatment.

How is this different from my primary care doctor?

Primary care can provide valuable mental health care. Kathie’s visits focus on psychiatric assessment and treatment, with a 60-minute initial appointment and planned follow-up. Whether that service is useful for you depends on your needs, current care, and budget.

Can I keep working with my current therapist?

Bring that up early. Psychiatric care may complement existing therapy, depending on your needs. Discuss how responsibilities would be divided and what consent would be needed for your clinicians to coordinate.

Can I discuss pregnancy, postpartum, or breastfeeding?

Yes. Kathie lists perinatal mental health among her areas of practice. Share your circumstances and the clinicians involved in your care so recommendations can account for them. This website cannot advise on individual treatment decisions.

Are appointments virtual or in person?

Virtual care is offered in Ohio and Kentucky. In-person care at the planned Chasing Cali setting in Reading is in development. Confirm current availability directly before planning a visit.

Where do I need to be for a virtual appointment?

Confirm eligibility based on the state where you will physically be during the visit. Plan a private space, a camera and microphone, and a reliable connection. Ask for the practice’s instructions before the appointment.

How long are the appointments?

The free introduction is 15 minutes. The initial psychiatric visit is 60 minutes, and the standard follow-up is 30 minutes. Ask about the appropriate appointment type if you are seeking a different service or need more time.

How often will I need follow-up?

That depends on the assessment, treatment plan, and how you are doing. Ask about likely timing, the reasons for it, and when it will be reviewed. The website does not set a universal schedule.

Can I message Kathie between appointments?

Before care starts, ask which contact method to use, what response times to expect, and whether clinical messages carry a fee. Routine messages and website inquiries should not be used for emergencies.

What are the private-pay fees?

The 60-minute initial psychiatric visit is $295 and the 30-minute follow-up is $195. The introductory 15-minute conversation is free. See the fees page for examples of visit totals and questions about additional costs.

Does Kathie accept my insurance?

Confirm current participation with your exact plan and the specific appointment before scheduling. Kathie has a Headway provider profile, but that does not establish your benefits or out-of-pocket cost. Ask about deductibles, copays, and any out-of-network arrangement.

Are medication and other services included in the visit fee?

Do not assume the visit fee includes pharmacy costs, laboratory work, outside testing, another clinician’s services, or Chasing Cali wellness services. Ask about any service beyond the listed appointment.

What is the cancellation policy?

Request the current written cancellation, rescheduling, and payment policies before booking a paid appointment. Ask about the notice required and any fees before you reserve a time.

What if I am not sure I can afford ongoing care?

Say that during the introduction. Ask about likely follow-up, available payment arrangements, and the costs that would be separate from visits. Consider insurance-covered alternatives too. There is no obligation to proceed with private care.

Is this a place to get urgent help?

No. This website and the free introduction are not urgent-care services. Do not wait for a response if you need immediate assistance; use emergency services or the nearest emergency department for an emergency.
